The Journey into Painting
Painting shapes my way

wall of triangles, Oil on Canvas, 16”x16”

These triangles form an installation in the entry hallway of the beautiful penthouse condo we are currently renting. The condo, stunning as it is, had never been occupied in the ten years since it had been constructed. As the first occupants, we were to discover there were many many issues with the plumbing, wiring, appliances, etc. that had never been discovered. A three page list of peculiarities and defects has slowly and patiently been addressed by the owner. Bit by bit we now have lights that respond to the switches in the rooms where the lights actually are located, blinds that go up and down on command without affecting blinds in other rooms and appliances that have been repaired and replaced, more than anyone could possibly imagine. The quirks have been amusing, frustrating and cause for much dinner table conversation. They have also been the inspiration for this triangle installation. Like this condo, the triangles are bright and colourful and edgy. They are also off centre with shadows that make no sense, tilting against gravity and making us question this place as the lights and blinds, and other odd quirks we discovered have done. They also serve to brighten up the enormous entry hall.
